Chipotle’s high-efficiency equipment package has reached more than 1,700 restaurants, according to its [October earnings presentation](https://ir.chipotle.com/download/CMG_Supplemental_Q3_2026_Investor_Information.pdf#page=8). The chain plans to have the package in about 2,000 restaurants by year-end.

The [July presentation](https://ir.chipotle.com/download/CMG_Supplemental_Q2_2026_Investor_Information_Final_7.29.26.pdf#page=9) listed more than 1,000 equipped restaurants and a year-end goal of about 2,000.

Chipotle detailed the package in [December 2025](https://newsroom.chipotle.com/2025-12-12-BIG-MILESTONE-IN-THE-LITTLE-APPLE-CHIPOTLE-OPENS-ITS-4,000TH-RESTAURANT,-LOCATED-IN-MANHATTAN,-KANSAS). Its four components handle distinct tasks. A three-pan rice cooker supports higher cooking volumes and consistent batches. A dual-sided plancha, or grill, reduces cooking time for steak, chicken and fajita vegetables, according to the company.

The company says its [higher-capacity fryer](https://newsroom.chipotle.com/2025-12-12-BIG-MILESTONE-IN-THE-LITTLE-APPLE-CHIPOTLE-OPENS-ITS-4,000TH-RESTAURANT,-LOCATED-IN-MANHATTAN,-KANSAS) increases chip production, while a produce slicer automates slicing during prep.

Chipotle [describes the package](https://newsroom.chipotle.com/2025-12-12-BIG-MILESTONE-IN-THE-LITTLE-APPLE-CHIPOTLE-OPENS-ITS-4,000TH-RESTAURANT,-LOCATED-IN-MANHATTAN,-KANSAS) as a way to simplify cooking and deploy staff more effectively during peak hours. Its [July presentation](https://ir.chipotle.com/download/CMG_Supplemental_Q2_2026_Investor_Information_Final_7.29.26.pdf#page=6) separately described Chipotle Kitchen as improving digital-order accuracy, speed, consistency and on-time fulfillment. The equipment package addresses repetitive prep, simpler processes and readiness for peak periods.

In October, Chipotle credited the equipment with better food quality, faster throughput and higher guest satisfaction, leading to “hundreds of basis points” of comparable-sales improvement. The [slide](https://ir.chipotle.com/download/CMG_Supplemental_Q3_2026_Investor_Information.pdf#page=8) supplies no comparison cohort or measurement method for that assertion.

Chipotle’s [results released October 28](https://ir.chipotle.com/2026-10-28-CHIPOTLE-ANNOUNCES-THIRD-QUARTER-2026-RESULTS) provide the broader operating context. Comparable sales rose 2.1% for the three months ended September 30, with transactions up 0.8% and average check up 1.3%. Those comparable measures cover company-owned restaurants operating for at least 13 full calendar months. Chipotle owns and operates all its restaurants in the United States, Canada and Europe.

Labor costs rose to 25.7% of revenue from 25.2% a year earlier. The company’s [listed pressures](https://ir.chipotle.com/2026-10-28-CHIPOTLE-ANNOUNCES-THIRD-QUARTER-2026-RESULTS) included higher employee compensation, additional restaurant labor supporting execution and promotions, and insurance costs. Menu price increases provided a partial offset. These [company results](https://ir.chipotle.com/2026-10-28-CHIPOTLE-ANNOUNCES-THIRD-QUARTER-2026-RESULTS) do not separately report the performance of equipped restaurants.
